Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to talk to some of my friends about their DevOps jobs, certificates and tools they are using. Tinkering with new software is what I enjoy, so I’ve deviced to explore some new stuff in a “DevOps” sprint. The goal is to see if I actually enjoy the DevOps sector, while learning about a tool I haven’t used before. I may find useful tools that I can utilize in my already existing docker-based homelab on my TrueNAS as well.
This is a incomprehensive list of stuff to explore in the next few weeks:
Tools
While I’ve heard a lot about kubernetes aka k8s, I’ve never spun up my own cluster, so that’s what I want to start with.
Environment
Utilizing the homelab :-) proxmox as host for all the things.
- Intel Core i7-10510U @ 4.9GHz, 4 Cores 8 Threads
- 64GB RAM
- 1TB NVME
- Proxmox VE as host
Plenty of room to spin up VMs with all the necessary tools.
Certificates
Some certificates that might be useful/worth exploring afterwards
